TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

BANDAGE:

-Leave the bandage given to you on for at least one hour.   This keeps all airborne bacteria OUT!

-Before touching your new tattoo wash your hands with unscented, antibacterial soap and warm water.  Treat your new tattoo like an open wound.  You may notice redness, swelling, and sensitivity for the first few days.

-Carefully remove the bandage.  If it sticks slightly wet the bandage as to not disturb the dried matter on the tattoo.  DO NOT FORCE IT.

-After removing the bandage, clean the area with a mild, unscented antibacterial soap and rinse well.  DO NOT SCRUB.  Pat dry with a paper towel.

-Gently apply a very thin layer of the aftercare product suggested by your artist.

-DO NO re-bandage.  Air is good for your new and healing tattoo.

-For 5-7 days make sure to keep your tattoo clean.  If scabs form DO NOT pick them and let them heal naturally.

SANIDERM:

-You can keep Saniderm on for up to 48 hours depending on how much the tattoo is weeping.  It is fine/normal for small amounts of blood, plasma, lymph fluid build up under the bandage.  DO NOT leave the Saniderm on for more than 48 hours.

-If at any point the Saniderm breaks or leaks, remove it.  After removal begin to follow the aftercare instructions for a traditional bandage.

-To remove the Saniderm, find the loosest corner and stretch it out.  DO NOT pull the Saniderm off.  Think of it like removing a command strip.  As you stretch it, the Saniderm will begin to release.

-The shower is the best place to remove Saniderm.  The warm water helps relax the skin and weaken the adhesive making the removal more comfortable.  Dry removal may be more painful and potentially cause more trauma to the skin.

-If you have a negative reaction to Saniderm (redness, extreme itchiness, swelling around the bandage area) remove the Saniderm and wash with warm water and unscented, antibacterial soap.  If things do not improve within a few days contact your tattoo artist.
